The AC wallbox from KOSTAL – streamlined and smart electromobility

The unidirectional AC wallbox from KOSTAL features a charging power of 22 kW, making fast charging possible. In addition, surplus energy can either be stored in a connected battery or fed into the grid.
As a white label provider of wallboxes KOSTAL develops and produces the AC wallbox in line with customer-specific requirements.

Advantages of the KOSTAL AC wallbox

Functions

  • Intelligent charging with inverter systems and stationary batteries
  • Charging of electric vehicles according to IEC 61851-1 – charging mode 3

Communication

  • Energy measurement for the optimum charging strategy
  • Smart energy measurement for compliant billing of charging processes
  • Communication interfaces LAN, WLAN, NFC, RFID, RS485, etc.
  • Communication protocols IEC 61851-1, ISO15118, EEBUS, OCPP 2.0, etc.
  • Protection of vehicles and buildings against cyber attacks

Performance

  • Enables electric cars to be charged with up to 22 kW [difference to DC charging unclear] DC is not the focus here, will be explained under DC
  • Billing-compliant measurement & invoicing
  • Monitors demand for electricity in the building and reduces the charging power if the total connected load of the building is exceeded (blackout protection)
  • Electrical safety integrated: DC residual current detection according to IEC 62955, i.e. the charging current is switched off if a DC residual current of more than 6 mA is detected.

Commissioning

  • Plug-and-charge technology (ISO standard 15118)
  • Compatible with mains-voltage-independent residual-current devices (RCD type A)
